Rifle scope guide

Choosing a scope for your gel blaster

A rifle scope gives you a magnified view of the target. It can make distant details easier to see, but it does not increase the blaster's FPS, effective range or mechanical consistency. Choose the magnification and mount around how you actually use the rifle.

Match the scope to the build

4× fixed magnification

A fixed 4× scope gives the same view every time and keeps the controls simple. It suits a clean rifle or DMR-style build when you want moderate magnification without a large zoom range.

5–30× variable magnification

A high-magnification scope makes distant details easier to inspect and suits larger DMR or sniper-style builds. It is also bigger and heavier, so check balance, rail space and eye relief before fitting it.

LPVO and lower-power variables

An LPVO starts at or near 1× and zooms higher, giving one rifle a more flexible viewing range. Check the current product grid for availability, then confirm the mount, tube size and space required by the exact scope.

What the scope numbers mean

Magnification

The first number tells you how much the view is enlarged. A 4× scope stays at four times magnification; a 5–30× scope can be adjusted through that range.

Objective lens

The last number is the objective lens diameter in millimetres, such as 32 mm or 56 mm. A larger objective also adds size and weight; it does not extend the blaster's shooting range.

FFP or SFP

In a first focal plane scope, the reticle appears to grow and shrink as magnification changes. In a second focal plane scope, its apparent size stays the same. Neither is automatically better for every setup.

Check the fit before ordering

A compatible rail is only the first part of the setup. The scope still needs to sit at the right height and distance for a clear view when the rifle is shouldered.

Rail, rings and mount

Check that the rifle has enough usable 20 mm Picatinny rail and that the supplied rings or mount match it. Package contents vary, so confirm what comes with the exact scope.

Eye relief

Eye relief is the distance between your eye and the rear lens needed to see the full image. The scope should reach that position without forcing an awkward head or stock position.

Size, weight and clearance

Higher-magnification scopes are usually larger and heavier. Check balance and make sure the optic, adjustment turrets and lens covers will clear the receiver, handguard and other accessories.

Scope, red dot or magnifier?

OptionViewBest when
Red dotNormally 1×, with no fixed eye reliefYou want a compact sight and a quick, open view.
MagnifierAdds magnification behind a compatible red dotYou want to switch between an unmagnified dot and a magnified view.
Fixed scopeOne magnification levelYou prefer a simple, consistent magnified view.
Variable scopeAdjustable magnification rangeYou want more viewing flexibility and have room for a larger optic.

Gel blaster rifle scope questions

What magnification scope is best for a gel blaster?

For a simpler rifle or DMR-style setup, fixed 4× is an easy place to start. A variable scope suits customers who want to change the view, while higher magnification is mainly useful for seeing distant details. Consider the scope's weight and size as well as the maximum number.

Does a scope increase gel blaster range or accuracy?

A scope only changes what you can see. It does not increase FPS, effective range or the mechanical consistency of the blaster. Gel quality, hop-up setup and the blaster's internal condition still determine how it shoots.

Will a rifle scope fit any 20 mm Picatinny rail?

A compatible Picatinny mount or set of rings should clamp to the same rail interface, but the rifle still needs enough usable rail space and clearance. Check the complete setup, especially on short receivers or crowded top rails.

What is eye relief?

Eye relief is the distance from the rear lens where you can see the full image. Mount the scope so that distance feels natural when you shoulder the rifle; moving your head around to find the image usually means the position needs adjustment.

What is the difference between FFP and SFP?

An FFP reticle changes apparent size with the target image as magnification changes. An SFP reticle stays the same apparent size. For ordinary gel blaster use, the better choice is the one with the view, controls and price that suit you.

Should I choose a rifle scope, red dot or magnifier?

Choose a scope when magnification is the main requirement. Choose a rifle red dot for a compact 1× view, or pair a compatible red dot with a magnifier when you want to switch between the two.

Do I need separate scope rings or a mount?

It depends on the scope. Some include rings or a mount and others do not. Check the exact product's package contents, tube size and rail interface before ordering, or browse our scope mounts.

Can Cyber Custom fit and set up my rifle scope?

Yes. Bring the rifle to our QLD physical shop and our Cyber Custom workshop can check the mount, set the eye relief and help align the scope with the rifle.
