Red dot sight guide

Start with the mounting point

Most customers can narrow the choice quickly by checking where the sight will sit. A rifle normally uses the top rail, while a pistol needs a compatible slide cut, adaptor plate or rear-sight mount. Once that is confirmed, choose the mount height and controls that feel right on your setup.

Rifle or pistol?

The sight can look suitable and still have the wrong mounting hardware. Check the interface first, then compare the sight itself.

Red dots for rifles

Most rifle red dots in this range mount to a 20 mm Picatinny top rail. Check whether the box includes a low mount, a high mount or both. The right height should let you find the dot naturally when the rifle is shouldered.

Red dots for pistols

An optic-ready pistol normally uses a specific slide cut or adaptor plate. A pistol without an optic cut may use a rear-sight mount, depending on the model and the sight. The footprint and screws still need to match.

What to check before ordering

Low mount or high mount

A low mount keeps the sight close to the rail. A high mount raises it into a more upright sight line and can clear front sights or other hardware. Choose for your stock position and the way you shoulder the blaster.

Space for a magnifier

If you plan to add a magnifier, leave enough rail behind the red dot and check that both units can line up at the same height.

Battery and controls

Battery type and control layout vary by sight. Check the product page or packaging before buying replacements. Similar-looking sights do not always use the same battery.

If you are unsure, send us the blaster model and a clear photo of the mounting area. For a pistol, include a photo of the top of the slide; for a rifle, show the available top rail.

Gel blaster red dot sight questions

What does a red dot sight do on a gel blaster?

It gives you an illuminated aiming point in the sight window, so you do not need to line up front and rear iron sights. It changes the way you aim; it does not increase the blaster's FPS or effective range.

Does a red dot sight magnify the target?

A standard 1× red dot does not magnify the target. If you want magnification, look at a compatible magnifier or rifle scope.

Will a red dot fit a 20 mm Picatinny rail?

Yes, when the sight includes a matching Picatinny mount. Check the mount supplied in the box, its height and the amount of usable rail space on the blaster before ordering.

Can I put a red dot on a gel blaster pistol?

Yes, if the pistol has a compatible optic-ready slide, adaptor plate or rear-sight mount. The footprint and screw size need to match the sight. If the same order includes an optic-ready pistol and red dot sight, we will include the compatible mounting screws by default.

Should I choose a low or high red dot mount?

Choose the height that places the dot naturally in your line of sight when the blaster is shouldered. A high mount gives a more upright position and may clear other hardware; a low mount keeps the sight closer to the rail.

Which battery does my red dot sight use?

Use the battery listed for the exact sight. Common models may use a coin cell or a larger cylindrical battery, but the housing style alone does not confirm the battery type.

Can Cyber Custom help fit my red dot sight?

Yes. Bring the blaster to our QLD physical shop, or send us the model and a clear photo of the mounting area. Our Cyber Custom workshop can help match the mount, check the height and fit the sight.
