Pistol sight guide

Choose the mount before the sight

Two pistol red dot sights can look almost identical and still use different footprints, adaptor plates or screws. Check the exact pistol and slide setup first. If you bring the pistol to our QLD physical shop, we can compare the mounting area with our local stock and help with fitting through the Cyber Custom workshop.

What to check before ordering

The pistol name alone is not enough to confirm fit. The slide cut, mounting plate and screw specification all need to work together.

Slide cut or adaptor

An optic-ready slide normally uses a particular plate or footprint, and the required plate is often included with the blaster. A slide without an optic cut may use a suitable rear-sight mount, which is often included with the sight. Check the package contents for the exact blaster and sight before ordering.

Optic footprint

The mounting holes and locating posts underneath the sight must match the plate. Similar-looking compact sights are not automatically interchangeable.

Screw size and length

Use the correct thread and length for the plate and slide. Screws that are too long can interfere with the slide or internal parts; screws that are too short may not hold the sight securely. If your order includes both an optic-ready pistol and a red dot sight, we will include the compatible mounting screws by default.

Optic-ready and standard slides

Optic-ready or MOS-style slides

These slides are designed to accept an optic directly or through an adaptor plate. You still need to match the footprint and screws; optic-ready does not mean every pistol sight will fit.

Slides without an optic cut

Some pistols can use a mount fitted in place of the rear sight. Others may need a different slide or specialist work.

A red dot changes the aiming reference; it does not increase FPS, effective range or the mechanical accuracy of the pistol. The sight also needs to remain secure while the slide cycles, so correct hardware and installation matter.

Get the fit checked at our QLD physical shop

Bring the pistol with you and we can check the slide, plate and screw fit against available local stock. If you are contacting us online, send the manufacturer, exact model and clear photos of the top and rear of the slide.

Pistol red dot sight questions

Will any red dot sight fit my gel blaster pistol?

No. The sight footprint, adaptor plate, screw thread and screw length must suit the pistol's slide. Send us the manufacturer and exact model, or bring the pistol to our QLD physical shop so we can check it.

What does an optic-ready or MOS-style slide mean?

It means the slide has been designed with a mounting area for an optic, often using an adaptor plate. The term does not guarantee universal fit. You still need the correct plate, footprint and screws for the sight.

Do I need to remove the rear sight to install a red dot?

It depends on the pistol. Some optic-ready slides keep the rear sight and use a separate optic cut. Other pistols use a mount that replaces the rear sight. Confirm the mounting method before removing any part.

Will a red dot make my pistol more accurate?

A red dot can make the aiming point easier to see, but it does not change the pistol's FPS, range or mechanical accuracy. Performance still depends on the pistol, gel quality, hop-up setup and shooting conditions.

How do I know which screws to use?

Use screws with the thread and length specified for the sight, plate and slide combination. Do not assume the screws supplied with one part suit every setup. If you are unsure, ask us to check before fitting the sight. If your order includes both an optic-ready pistol and a red dot sight, we will include the compatible mounting screws by default.

Can Cyber Custom fit a pistol red dot sight?

Yes. Our Cyber Custom workshop can check supported pistols, match compatible mounting parts and assist with fitting. Bring the pistol to our QLD physical shop or contact us with the exact model and clear photos of the slide.
